ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. This book focuses on exploring political, economic and technological entanglements involved in the proliferation of climate problems and the ways they can be resolved to boost a greener economy and culture. Behind the colliding economic modernities, there are more encompassing, value-charged myths, with the respective icons, images and heroes, which have shaped both the relationship between techno-science and nature and a vision of a better future. The book also analyzes four crucial capacities needed to make a climate-compatible transition. These are the capacity to drive innovation, to mobilize public interest, to follow complex pathways of green transition for climate-compatible solutions across markets, politics, and technology, and to stage climate compatible economies and social changes at different stages of development across the world.
