The negotiation based on collaboration, not telling the clients what assignments to carry out. Homework assignment should base on the work undertaken in the current session and linked to the client's goals. The homework task needs to state in clear and concrete terms as well as when it will done. Anticipated obstacles to carrying out the assignment need to find and solutions developed. Clients can give a copy of the completed homework form to remind them of what they have agreed to do. Sufficient time should left at the end of the session for homework negotiation; if this process rushed, misunderstandings may occur such as the client not having a clear understanding of what he supposed to do as the assignment has couched in vague terms. If an appropriate homework assignment has emerged earlier in the session it can discuss and agreed upon then or nearer the end of the session.
