ABSTRACT

Third graders need third grade school supplies. The army needs Humvees. Even monks living in the mountains of Tibet need certain supplies to maintain their way of life. Similarly, the therapy process, at times, necessitates that the therapist supply feedback and information to the client. The therapist amplifies the attempt the client is making at understanding his own particular view of the situation. The therapist uses affirmation skills to highlight strengths and positive insight by the client. Play therapy used to share the therapist's current feelings and responses to actions and play by the child. The therapist makes direct statements regarding play with the child. Immediacy to provide the client with feedback about how the therapist is experiencing the session, the client, or the story of the client. Self disclosures provide the client with information about the therapist. Self disclose should be to establish greater rapport, humanize a client's experience, or promote greater insight and learning by the client.
