ABSTRACT
Although person-centred theory has never asserted that the so-called ‘core conditions’ of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence are necessary and sufficient conditions for constructive personality change (the hypothesis demands all six conditions, Point 13), research into and criticism of the hypothesis of the necessary and sufficient conditions usually concentrates on them.
