ABSTRACT

Chapters 8 through 15 have provided a wide set of case studies targeting a variety of themes pertaining to the book’s core topic: from transportation modes to visitor preferences, from access policies to mobility plans. The selected case studies offer an overview of different contexts, including designated (e.g. national parks) and nondesignated natural areas, in Europe, the United States and Asia. This chapter aims to briefly review each of the case studies, highlighting peculiar elements that can inform future research and drive concrete actions to foster sustainable transportation in natural settings.
