ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses life and the good life with someone who has spent his/her life traveling, committed to the world of education, to school, to thinking and writing about the education that we need in Latin America. It presents a broader project for thinking about what could nowadays constitute a good life in the fields of education and philosophy in which people work. The very division between life and school is part of the problem, for the former only enters the latter as an object of study or as a lecture topic. Nobody is educated in a society in which there are people, even if it is only one person, without an education. This is also another reason why America has to invent itself and not imitate, that is why it makes no sense for a country to bring European immigrants without first educating its own people from childhood.
