ABSTRACT

The influence of water bodies on urban climate is well known, and it has been studied in depth by different authors. On one hand, the absence of water and evapotranspiration from vegetation has been identified as one of the reasons for the so-called ‘urban heat island effect’ (Oke T. R., 1987). On the other hand, the use of water on the urban environment is one of the most effective ways to remove the urban heat in summer conditions (Santamouris M. and Asimakopoulos D., 1996).
