ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the republics that forms part of the Far Eastern Federal Okrug. The Republic of Sakha is situated in eastern Siberia. Its agriculture consists mainly of animal husbandry, hunting and fishing. Kamchatka Krai occupies the Kamchatka Peninsula. Agriculture in the territory consists principally of vegetable production, animal husbandry and hunting. Khabarovsk Krai is situated in the Far East, on the Sea of Okhotsk. It was established as a military outpost in 1858. The Krai's principal land use is forestry. Maritime Krai, also known as Primorye, is situated in the extreme southeast of Russia. Its agricultural sector consists mainly of grain, vegetable and soybean production, animal husbandry. Amur Oblast is situated in the south-east of the Russian Federation. Agriculture consists mainly of grain and vegetable production, animal husbandry and beekeeping. Magadan Oblast is situated in the north-east of Russia. Agricultural activities principally comprise fishing, animal husbandry and hunting.
