ABSTRACT
Cities are the habitat par excellence for Homo sapiens. Call us Homo urbanus: more than half of us live in cities now. Virtually all of the human population growth expected on Earth this century will effectively end up in cities. Urban populations will double, and the urban built environment will double to accommodate the growth. Homo urbanus is thriving in the Anthropocene.
