ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. It provides the underlying ambition: to go beyond today's dominant approaches to the relationship between the European Union (EU) and the economy, their decreasing returns in terms of knowledge production and their disconnection with how the EU actually functions. It also proceeds in three stages: government of industries at the EU scale will be compared in order to capture its most salient features; mobilizes comparisons to further analyses the political work; attempts to bring together the recurrent traits of what we consider to be the EU scale's overarching approach to governing industries. Comparing the EU's government of industries: comparative analysis will be 'put to work' in order to discover similarities and differences in EU-scale government both between the industries and across the trans-industry regulations.
