Theories of Human Rights

We finally arrive at the theoretical core of our exposition – theories of human rights. First, the general category of religious justifications of human rights is established, and second, three eminent positions are spelt out – Alan Gewirth’s two basic human rights to freedom and well-being, Martha Nussbaum’s capability approach to human rights, and Thomas Pogge’s articulation of institutional duties (to respect human rights).
