ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on Polish entrepreneurs, who as owners of their small businesses are, by definition, employers. It finds their attitudes towards senior employment as well as their views on older worker's weaknesses and strengths. Whilst selecting the firms, people intend to include organizations from the different sectors of the economy so that they represented a wide spectrum of economic activity. Frank, Finnegan, and Taylor argue that fair treatment of older employees is one of the most important factors behind their retention. The age management is about ensuring job quality for employees aged over 55. This is because the quality of work is a vital factor influencing decisions about movement out of and back into the labour market. The chapter mentions that the Eurofound came up with a model that diagnoses the relationship between working conditions and ageing as a function of the quality of work.
