Account handlers must be able to organize themselves so that they can respond quickly as well as take initiatives. An account handler who doesn't take charge of his own day is like a cork bobbing on the ocean. A junior account handler ought to work hard at ensuring that achieves things throughout each working day. Advertising agencies are great places for making work, some of it unnecessary. Account handling includes selling the agency by phone. Client will support agency's media buying approach and will maximize flexibility. Agency's total net media budget for Jan.-March 1988 is 200,000 including the approx. 27,000 already spent. Although meetings with clients have the advantage of face-to-face contact, they usually involve significant travelling time between premises. With the constant exception of presenting creative work, the vast majority of client contact, and especially on unplanned immediate matters, can be done by phone.
