ABSTRACT
This chapter will provide a sociological analysis of competing definitions of ‘talent’ and elite employability in understanding the (re)stratification of knowledge work and its relationship to higher education. It describes how the signifiers of talent may be defined differently depending on occupational and labour market context. Consequently, the study of elite education and its relationship to the global labour market raises important theoretical and policy issues rarely addressed in the literature on elite education and social reproduction.
