ABSTRACT

The past two decades have witnessed significant change within the field of education. Among the most influential changes is the increased emphasis on educational accountability within individual states and the nation as a whole. Policy-makers across the United States expect all schools to ensure that all children meet or exceed state academic performance standards (Skrla et al., 2009). This emphasis has been marked both by increased levels of policy activity and by a growing body of scholarship focused on accountability and its impact. Within this literature, scholars have developed a robust conversation focused on equity audits.
