ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4, we depicted how the intra governmental coordination with external network actors is structured in the three cities. In Chapters 5 and 6, we discussed the expansion of nongovernmental space in the sectoral integration of innovations such as green buildings and electric vehicles, which create the potential for collaboration. In this chapter, we take a disaggregate approach to governance theory to analyse how and why coordination and collaboration , as two intertwined processes, influence the governing of climate change in China. We also investigate how the emerging interaction between coordination and collaboration affects the established institutional structure of the climate change regime.
