ABSTRACT

This chapter is a link between History 5-11 (Cooper 2012) the companion book of History 7-11, and also between theoretical rationale for this book and the case studies which illustrate this in Part 2. The chapter suggests how activities in History 5-11 could be developed into enjoyable extended writing, with references to speaking and listening, reading and writing in the National Curriculum for History and for English (DfE 2013). It is not intended that specific activities described in History 5-11 are necessarily replicated but the scaffolding strategies suggested can be applied to any similar activities. This should precede Site Visits.
