ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on two major sites: Dinosaur National Monument in Utah and the Siebel Dinosaur Complex at the Museum of the Rockies in Montana. The fieldwork that was undertaken at both of these sites was different from that at other places within this book. Reflecting the passionate interest of younger people in dinosaurs, these field visits were planned and led by Warwick's two children, Stephen and Alexander. Whereas a number of places connected to movies are viewed through a nostalgic lens, these dinosaur attractions are examined with the assistance of children of the twenty-first century. Dinosaur National Monument gained its impact from being authentically in a spectacular wilderness. Like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Monument Valley, it was one of the great wonders of nature in the West, that had to be visited and experienced. The Siebel Dinosaur Complex opened in 2007, financed by a US$2 million donation by businessman Thomas Siebel.
