ABSTRACT
The term ethnography comes from the Greek words ethnos-people, nation, tribe, and graphia-description, writing. It means a description of people, their ways of life, customs, and traditions. Ethnography is often discussed as ethnographic fi eldwork or simply fi eldwork , where “the fi eld is the natural, nonlaboratory setting or location where the activities in which a researchers is interested take place” (Schensul, Schensul, & LeCompte, 1999, p. 70). Ethnography is a not a particular method; it is an approach that has many variations and incorporates different methods and techniques for data generation. It is also a way of thinking about sociocultural worlds and the people inhabiting them, how to research them, and how to discover new knowledge about both cultures and people.
