ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some simple exercise to encourage practitioners to see text from a basic physical viewpoint and from there attach the discoveries back to the text. It discusses exercises that look for the physical truth of a situation through a variety of means. Each one demonstrates a different practical device in attempting to locate the truth. The lecture has to be clear because its primary objective is to make people understand and not necessarily convey emotion. Presenting the text as a lecture gives the performer an opportunity to think about and express the many facets of the text. Encourage the performers to give plenty of space to the words, to take plenty of time. As the moves have a life of their own it might appear like simple conversation has taken all night to run its course. The CDs might be the choices of the individual character or they might be the soundtrack to their love.
