ABSTRACT

This chapter is concerned with what I have designated Level 3 processes. In general, Level 3 processes are categorized in tenns of the effects they exert on the organization of visual space and fonn. I expand shortly upon this very general criterion to define more specifically the nature of the processes to be included within this chapter's rubric. However, before I proceed, it is important to emphasize that the material of this chapter differs from the discussions in the previous chapters in several important ways. Chapter 9 alerted the reader to one important distinctio~most of the phenomena to be considered here are beyond neuroreductionistic explanation.
