ABSTRACT

Playing an instrument was part of Geronimo's daily training during his first ten years at Odin Teatret. Keeping a rhythm requires being present in the instant, so learning how to play the drums was excellent training for him to achieve this end. In order to prepare himself for the creation of a new performance, for which Eugenio had already given them the first indications, he felt the need to 'wash away' the form of scenic presence of his Kaosmos character. During his first lessons he realised that there are two opposing tensions in the body of a flamenco dancer: the lower part tends downwards, towards the earth, while the upper part tends upwards, towards the sky. In order to proceed with Geronimo narrative, he needs to leap back in time once again. The work with the bushman formed part of our collective training. Geronimo could assess his strength more easily if he had to confront a precise resistance.
