ABSTRACT

Roberta Carreri is one of acclaimed theatre company Odin Teatret's longest-serving actors, and the last to be trained by Eugenio Barba himself. In this book, she relives the milestones of her professional journey, including: her first experiences of street theatre. During the first years Judy, Eugenio's English wife, collaborated in the organisation of the theatre. After the birth of their two children she concentrated on translating our performance texts, programme notes and Eugenio's articles and books into English. In the early years Eugenio had prohibited intimate relationships between members of the group. Eugenio had also been clever to improvise a rule that the new group performance would travel for only four months in any year. It was then, while thinking about creating new pedagogical initiatives in Holstebro while his companions were on tour with Talabot, that he came up with the idea of Odin Week.
