ABSTRACT

In the United States, like most other countries, witness accounts of alleged crimes play a critical role in the pursuit of justice. Witnesses may be questioned shortly after an event, though more often they are questioned days, months, or even years later, as details regarding a crime surface and investigations narrow on particular suspects. A continuing challenge concerns how to obtain the most reliable and complete reports possible from witnesses, without introducing suggestions or false details, so that justice can be served for all parties involved.
