ABSTRACT

Re:Muse-icology is a play on words, combining the prefix "re" with "muse" and "musicology" that represents the authors work as a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) practitioner in preserving and reimagining music heritage sites for cultural, economic and environmental sustainability. Re:Muse-icology involves self-directed activities in social media, pro bono volunteer consulting, and research and documentation, all of which contribute to his overarching goal of developing the subject of music history as a thematic study and typology in the field of historic preservation. In reimagining popular musicology for the world of architecture and the American preservation movement; Re:Muse-icology introduces a new kind of conscious architectural historicism that actively engages the intrinsic value of music's built heritage and the synthesis of musicology, architectural history and phenomenology. Although Re:Muse-icology is still in its infancy, it has been involved in a number of projects in addition to the pro bono volunteer consultancy with the Circle G Foundation (CGF).
