ABSTRACT

Lighting and rendering a scene is one of the most crucial parts of the entire production process. In addition, during the rendering precalculation phase, it's prudent to turn on the Show calc. phase and Show direct light functions. These two functions allow users to visualize the direction of the lights in the scene and the overall GI before the rendering process begins. Being able to visualize the precalculation phase provides the user with the option to either let the process continue or abort it before the rendering is initiated. The following step is to enable the Override mtl function, for quick rendering feedback while creating and test-rendering lights in the scene. Scroll up to the V-Ray: Global switches roll-out and enable the Override mtl function from the Materials group. Before test rendering the new changes, duplicate the current V-Ray frame buffer by clicking on the Duplicate to MAX frame buffer.
