ABSTRACT

It is important for selling a grid-tied PV system to know where and how the system will be connected to the grid. There are many different ways to connect a PV system to the grid; some of them easy and other ways more complicated. There have also been a lot of changes regarding interconnections between the 2011 and the 2014 versions of the National Electric Code. Two basic types of interconnections they are load side and supply side. This is typically a main breaker in a service panel or a main breaker feeding a service panel. Line side of the main breaker is the utility side and load side is the other side. The supply side of the main breaker is called a supply-side connection. With load-side connections, we have to be careful, since we are adding more current than the main breaker on the load side of the main breaker.
