ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the lighting Effects and incorporation of motion graphics projects. The lighting system in CINEMA 4D is designed to simulate light found in the real world. Lights can also be used for visual effects, such as a beam of light shining from a lighthouse. Color can be changed to create a particular mood. In motion graphics, a common visual effect is to cast visible rays of light emitting from a logo or title credits. Third-party plug-ins for After Effects, such as Trapcode from Red Giant, allows producing this effect fairly easily. In CINEMA 4D, light objects can be set to visible or volumetric to create the same effect. Both options create different visual results. Light objects in CINEMA 4D simulate this effect by simply enabling the visible light option. Volumetric lighting behaves more like real light in that it can be blocked by solid objects.
