ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the use of ID4T in the Online Classroom. Most of the online classrooms are in the higher education or adult learning settings. The experience of a teacher who is working in an online K-12 setting represents a significant departure from what most classroom teachers are used to in face-to-face settings. Of particular importance is the advanced design work that has to be done for any online learning experience. Online learning in the K-12 setting does not allow for nearly as many teachable moments as a F2F environment, though there are a few from time to time. Most of the online K-12 learning experience is completely planned out prior to delivery the instruction. This creates significantly more design demand than might be the case in a F2F setting. In a F2F setting, this administration takes time, but in an online setting, high response rates, anonymity and rapid responses can be attained.
