ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the definitions of data, information, performance indicators and data selection principles. It also explains a different between Qualitative vs quantitative data, Pollutant vs resource usage data and Normalised vs absolute data and discusses the AA1000AS, verification and assurance, calibration and corroboration of data sources, internal and independent auditing/validation of data and pollution and nuisance monitoring.
