Why do some citizens approve of same-sex couples having the right to marry, while others are vehemently opposed? Why can’t Democrats and Republicans seem to agree on anything? Should we trust opinion polls? Are some polls better than others? How much does the average American really care about politics anyway? These are the types of important questions that are central to the study of public opinion.
