ABSTRACT

Index selection plays a crucial role both in adding a new event to a memory category and in retrieval. In attempting retrieval, strategies are employed to select plausible indices for traversal in the quest for a target event. Indices selected correspond to features of the target event. In adding a new event to a category in memory, it is important that it be indexed by features that will aid in any subsequent attempt to retrieve it. The same index selection process is used during both memory update and retrieval. This chapter motivates and presents that process with respect to E-MOPs.
