ABSTRACT
This chapter shows how author becomes a narrative researcher in a 'foreign' context. He grew up in a Thai family where both of his parents were 'leaders' in their work. His research focused on how academics at one university in Aotearoa New Zealand experienced and understood themselves as leaders in their everyday contexts. He became involved in a social movement centred on transformative education and invited to take a leading role in the establishment of a new higher education institution in Bangkok. During the past 30 years, there have been an increasing number of studies in the social sciences that deploy narrative as a method of data collection, a tool for methodological analysis and a mode of representation. He employed a narrative approach including narrative interviews and narrative analysis as the principal strategy for producing and analyzing the narratives of his participants.
