ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 outlines the mixed-method research that underpinned the investigation of Kyrgyz conversion from Islam to Protestant Christianity. Both qualitative (participant observation and semi-structured interviews) and quantitative methods (survey) were utilised. This chapter also describes the phenomenological approach taken by the author in understanding the processes, context and meanings of conversion from the point of view of the subjects (Kyrgyz Christians). The chapter provides a detailed description of the Kyrgyz Christians who participated in the research.
