ABSTRACT

The success of any design studio depends upon people’s ability to generate and evaluate sketches. In some respects, generating sketches is easier than evaluating them. After re ecting upon user and design research, a person sketches new ideas based on what they have learned. While sketching is an individual act, evaluation is a group activity. Luckily, the Six Thinking Hats provide you with a very e ective communication tool to help participants evaluate the sketches. The ordering of the hats helps you steer the group’s discussion. In this chapter, you will learn a step-by-step approach to help you with evaluating sketches.
