ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the world of blogging beyond words or at least the elements that enhance the story those words tell. The challenge of choosing good pictures to accompany word blogs, move to slide shows, and then evolve to the magic of multimedia. Text, pictures, and graphics comprise newspapers. Radio delivers sound. Television merges that sound with video. However, only one medium can use all these tools: text, pictures, graphics, audio, video to tell one story. From picture books to podcasts, TV reality to the tumblelogs that brings a little of this and that, weblogs have evolved into a new kind of journal. Words often aren't the best way to tell a story in the digital age. Even a single picture tells an entire story or be an entire blog post. Often, it is the words that accompany the picture the caption that increases impact and provides context. These words generally appear directly below the photo.
