ABSTRACT

Repetition is the process of repeating one or more of any of the visual elements in a design. Repetition can provide unity

in a composition, create pattern, produce a feeling of tension

or dissonance, communicate mood and emotion, or establish

a sense of rhythm and movement. It can help to show scale,

distance, and proportion and often provides information about

the relationships between parts of an image. Repetition can be

used to place emphasis on the whole of an artwork, or it can

be used to emphasize individual parts over the whole. It can

also serve to underscore conceptual and thematic elements in

a design.
