ABSTRACT

Every work of art, whether a stage design or another type of

art, is a carefully arranged composition. Visual elements are

placed with care and purpose, to achieve the designer’s desired

effect, to engage the viewer, and to control how they perceive

the image. Without the attention of the audience-and the

ability to control it-any important details or attempt at

communicating ideas and information will be lost. A hierarchy

exists between all of the visual components in a composition.
