ABSTRACT

When a designer sits down to start working on a play, what

they are really beginning is an investigation. The script is a new

and unknown territory and you are on a scavenger hunt, looking

for clues that will help you to understand the play, hoping

to make discoveries that will eventually infl uence and inform

your design. These clues range from the obvious to the subtle

and each offers another part of the puzzle that is the script.
