A thematic approach to forces, magnets and electricity in Early Years settings

Forces, magnets and electricity are areas of children’s experience of the world that can appear quite alien to many Early Years practitioners, for three reasons. The first is that the concepts associated with these physical phenomena may seem a bit abstract – we cannot see, hear or smell a force or a magnetic field. The second is that few practitioners come into Early Years professions with a background in physics, so they may lack confidence in their own understanding in these areas.
