ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on the simple ideas about 'insider-outsider' status to discuss the researcher's border-crossing identity. Through the various conceptual, theoretical, methodological and empirical perspectives that is shared, the complexities and nuances that is involved in researching between margins and mainstreams has been provided. The alternatives to the traditional structures for the thesis writing are gaining popularity, especially in the arts-based research contexts. Jennifer Donovan discusses the barriers that are preventing the connection of mainstream and margins when conducting in-school research. The book provides the importance of distribution, recognition and representation for creating socially just schools. It has provided many opportunities for author deliberation and consideration of the possibilities of education research. The importance of researching mainstreams, margins and the spaces in-between is demonstrated in the various chapters that are contributed in the book.
