ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the process of working collaboratively and reflectively throughout the research process in an effort to close the loop, share findings with others, and continue the process of professional development to improve teaching and learning. It takes the ambitious step of taking the research and applying it to practice and pushes for ongoing work to improve one's teaching. This reflective practice and striving toward continuous improvement, those of us veteran professors know, is never finished. Reflective collaborative research working groups can help in the following ways throughout the research process, during the planning process, throughout the research process, and conclusion of the research process. One possibility that may emerge from the collaborative reflective research and teaching groups is a desire to collaborate throughout the entire process including the teaching part. Thinking like a researcher as we approach our teaching can help our career-long striving toward excellence.
