ABSTRACT

This conclusion chapter presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book engages the task of classroom research seems less daunting and the possibilities exciting. The hope is that faculty, instructors, teaching assistants, and others working and teaching in higher-education settings continues to do more and more research on teaching and learning, using the variety of strategies discussed in this book are qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, using assessment data, case studies, and pilot studies. As the trend continues, teaching, learning and research continues to be informed by thoughtful and systematic research, and ultimately improved. Using research strategies and perhaps new strategies they create on own, college and university faculty can contribute even more to the knowledge base of the academy not only within their disciplines, but in teaching the next generation of knowledge producers as well.
