ABSTRACT

This chapter covers several topics concerning the conduct of particular types of credit activity such as the conduct of credit token agreements, misuse of credit tokens, overdraft agreements, high-cost short-term credit (HCSTC), and pawn agreements. A credit token must not be given to a minor who has not asked for it, but this does not apply to a credit token provided in respect of an agreement already made, or to the renewal of a credit token previously accepted by the minor. Credit facilities can be misused in a number of ways. Traditionally, credit cards have been prone to misuse and special rules have been developed in connection with credit card misuse. An authorised business overdraft is a borrower-lender agreement where an overdraft has been authorised in advance for the borrower to overdraw on a current account where the credit must be repaid on demand or within three months.
