ABSTRACT

The planning process for any organization should start with writing mission, vision and value statements. Before creative individuals can successfully learn the business skills, they must come to terms with their original dream of only focusing on creating their art. For many creative people, their personal mission, vision and values will involve producing a creative product, whether it is art, music, design or writing. For creatives, their mission will include developing and expressing their individual talent. The socio-cultural refers to changes in people's values and lifestyles. An environmental scan of the external environment including competitors, socio-cultural, technological and economic factors will be the basis of deciding the business's strategic plan. The vision statement describes what the creative entrepreneur wants the business to become in the future. Analyzing the internal strengths and weaknesses of the new business is the first step in the SWOT process. A lack of financial resources or the skills required to manage the business would be weaknesses.
