ABSTRACT

Once chosen the pattern women wish to draft the first stage is to trace and separate the front and back of the completed female basic block. This same process should be followed for all of the pattern instructions. Begin by matching the centre back (CB) of female basic block pattern with new centre back line on pattern paper. Ensure the waistline also lies on the new waistline on pattern paper. Trace all lines from the back of female basic block onto pattern paper, omitting lines on basic block diagram. Square across from the CB line to extend the bust line and hip line to the same length as the waist guideline. In order to accommodate the new historical pattern, a gap is needed between the back and front of the female basic block. The size of this gap will depend on the individual historical pattern the women are drafting.
