ABSTRACT

Teachers are paramount in creating creative teaching and learning opportunities. This can only happen due to the creative practitioner's passion, commitment and engagement. This chapter discusses planning for creative Physical Education, argues that planning is underpinned by our understanding of learning theories, values, beliefs, teaching styles and strategies. It also give an overview of pragmatics such as differentiation, safe practice, long-, medium- and short-term planning, aims, objectives/outcomes, and assessment. Physical Education is about being physically active, but there are ways that technology can be used to enhance the teaching of Physical Education creatively. Technology can bring accessibility, bringing the world to the classroom. This chapter examines the importance of pedagogy and practical considerations in planning for creative Physical Education. This chapter argues for the Purpose, Opportunities, Well-Being, Environment, Revel (POWER) principles, raised the importance of keeping abreast of current thinking and related our creative approach to the holistic notion of physical literacy.
