ABSTRACT

Being introduced as a 'student teacher' will not help the behaviour of students. Students need to understand that what they are learning in their lessons is relevant to them. In order to make languages lessons relevant to your students, one should have some imagination and sometimes be creative in their planning. Their behaviour shifted massively in the classroom, as they became more involved in lessons, participating more willingly and responding more positively to me. Pace and challenge are also important considerations when thinking about good behaviour. One of the reasons behind poor behaviour is that students are bored. Another way to involve other subjects in the languages classroom is through music and drama. Realia is the name for real-life objects that are used in the languages classroom to support learning. They support a more active teaching and learning environment, where students can touch, see and hear real objects.
