ABSTRACT

Remember the adage, “Sink or swim.” The grim father, after having examined his conscience for the purity of his motives (“this hurts me more than it does him”), plucks the terrified boy from the dock and casts him into the lake, whereupon the child miracu lously begins to swim like Johnny Weissmuller. Later the child thanks Daddy for having given him that push, shove, heave-ho, into the drink when he needed it.
