ABSTRACT

Adolescents face a variety of peer pressures, including sex. The culmination of pressure to have sex may reach its peak at any point during adolescence. The therapist and parents are then aware of his or her ignorance and can begin to provide accurate sex education. The defendant is a teen who has decided to have sex for the first time. This role should be played by the therapist or by no one at all, to avoid any client feeling prosecuted. It is important that a good relationship exist between the family and therapist. Finally, careful attention must be paid to the creation of the defendant character. The purpose is to parallel the actual teen, while not offending or alienating the teen. Including the teen in creating the character should eliminate these feelings, as he or she will feel a sense of control over the procedure.
